How to Recognise Ecstasy?
Ecstasy is most of the time in the form of a tablet, pill, or capsule or sometimes as a white or white brown powder. Pills have many forms and shapes which vary from white to yellow. They often have design pictures such as delphine or radioactive signs. One can never be quite sure what substances the pill includes, and often they also contain other substances than ecstasy. The pills are often wrapped to cellophane or small bags.
The Effects of Ecstasy
Ecstasy has a variety of effects which vary depending what the pill contains. The effects start usually 30 to 60 minutes after the drug is ingested. If one is just eaten it may take longer for the effects to occur. Pure ecstasy stimulates the body. The user feels energetic and alert. The psychological effects can alter depending on the state of mind and environment. The user of ecstasy often tell about feeling of happiness and mental brightening, as well as relaxation and feeling of emphaty. In this state person wants to talk and be near to each other. The drug may also cause slight visual distortion such as changes in shapes and lights. The user can also find these changes disturbing which may cause sickness or dizziness.
The drug also raises body temperature, increases blood pressure and removes the feeling of hunger. The user may also be incapable to sleep for a long time after ingesting the drug. Because ecstasy is a stimulant the downturn is similar to amphetamine. When the mood of the user is not artificially boosted she or he may fall into anxiety and depression. Uneasy situations may occur hard to handle and may also cause panic or paranoia. Laxative effect is also possible.
Risks of Ecstasy
Overheating. Because ecstasy may remove the feeling of tiredness, thirst or hunger, the user can be easily dehydrated when e.g. dancing for a long periods of time. The user may overheat and faint. That’s why it is important to drink enough water to ensure having a good balance of fluids, however it must not be drank too much.
Regular use of ecstasy. Long term users notice that they need more ecstasy for it to have an effect and still the effect isn’t as good as before. Long term use may cause fatigue which leads to catching cold, sore throat and flu. Women may have different kinds of infections such as cystitis.
Effects of long term use of ecstasy. Researchers have found evidence which shows large amounts of ecstasy to harm the brain of animals. Some professionals believe that this concerns humans as well, and may lead to mental disorder later in life. However, this still remain unconfirmed.
